Other requirements
You will also be subject to the usual prohibition list and criminal record checks. In addition, the Regulatory Body requires all trainees to satisfactorily complete a medical questionnaire to demonstrate their fitness to teach.
School experience is not essential prior to an interview but may support you in your decision to study this programme.

PGCE Full-time Pathway
Beginning January 2022
Age phase: Full-time pathway Early Years (Ages 3-7) / Later Years (Ages 5-11)
The Arden Forest School Direct, led by Welford-on-Avon Primary School, is running a School Direct Initial Teacher Training course beginning September 2022.
The programme is delivered in association with the University of Worcester, with trainees spending one or two days a week in University learning the theory and developing the subject knowledge that underpins successful teaching. The remainder of the time will be spent in school learning alongside the class teacher and school staff.
Assessment will come in the form of essays set and marked by the university as well as regular, ongoing assessment of teaching in school. Lesson observations take place regularly to give trainees constructive feedback about strengths and areas for development. Every half term, there will be a visit from a university-based link tutor who will observe with the school-based mentor to agree grades and set appropriate future targets.
School based training will take place largely at Welford on Avon Primary School, although other partner schools and curriculum experts may be used for specific parts of the training programme. All our partner schools are local and within easy travelling distance of Welford on Avon.
Later Years (Age 5-11)
You will be placed with a host school in either KS1 or KS2 during your School Experience 1 from September to the end of December and return to this school for your School Experience 3, from the end of March to the end of June. A complementary placement will take place for School Experience 2 from January to March in a different key stage and school to widen your experience.
Early Years (Age 3-7)
You will be placed with a host school in either Reception or Key Stage 1 during your School Experience 1 from September to the end of December and return to this school for your School Experience 3, from the end of March to the end of June. A complementary placement will take place for School Experience 2 from January to March in the other key stage and school to widen your experience.
